McKee Formula 5000 Mk8 1968. A truly unique opportunity to acquire a significant piece of American motorsport history ' the 1968 McKee Mk 8, originally commissioned by Ike Uihlein, President of the legendary Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company, at the time the world's largest beer producer. After making his name as a Can-Am builder, Bob McKee built his first single-seater, the McKee Mk 8, for the new 5-litre Formula A in 1968.

This Mk 8 was campaigned by Mak Kronn in 1968, achieving a third-place finish at Round 1 (CDR) before its ill-fated crash at Road America (Elkhart Lake) on 21 July 1968. The car was subsequently rebuilt under the guidance of Bob McKee himself.

After decades in the Uihlein estate, the car resurfaced in 1989, purchased by respected collectors Al and Linn Way of Oceanview, NJ. It was returned to competitive form, running successfully in Historic F5000 events at Road America, Mid-Ohio, and the SVRA Zippo Vintage Grand Prix at Watkins Glen throughout the 1990s.In December 2009, the McKee found its way to Australia, it has since appeared at Sydney Motorsport Park (November 2014), where it continued to display the unique character and performance of McKee's original engineering.
